As we age, the effects of gravity begin to have an effect the appearance of the breasts.  These factors, combined with the loss of skin’s elasticity, nursing, and pregnancies will often cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape.
A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure to lift and reshape sagging breasts.  It also reduces the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple).  Breast implants inserted concomitantly with a mastopexy procedure can increase the size and lift.
